Big 2007 Wins for Instant Runoff Voting!

Greens for Impact is an organization of principled, pragmatic Green Party members and progressive populists dedicated to working cooperatively with others to defeat the rightwing extremists who exert undue and dangerous influence on our government and the media. We believe this can be done while simultaneously furthering the growth of the Green Party as an independent alternative to the corporate-dominated parties.

We believe that this agenda is most-readily forwarded by a strategy designed to maximize the Green Party's impact. Greens for Impact works to:

____________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Encourage voters to register Green,

  2. Encourage voters in safe seat races -- those that are so overwhelmingly Republican or Democratic that we can be confident today of who will win there on election day -- to vote for Green Party candidates,

  3. Encourage voters in swing seat races, where every progressive vote is needed to defeat the rightwing candidates, to vote for the Democratic candidates, and

  4. Actively and forcefully push for the use of instant runoff voting (IRV) wherever suitable, alongside ballot access reform and full public financing of campaigns.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Greens for Impact do not believe that elections are merely public debates about voting your fears or voting your conscience. They are not academic or theoretical exercises. Real people's lives are at stake. Women, people of color, the GLBT community, our nation's poor, and many others, save for the privileged few, will face real consequences from the outcome of elections. As a result, we must view the effect of our votes collectively, not merely by what they mean to us as individuals. Vote with your mind. Vote with a plan.

We encourage sympathetic Greens, especially elected members of the GPUS, to contact us and lend support. It is our desire that as our ranks swell our voices will be heard in the most highly contested races, and that Democratic leaders will hear our calls for electoral reform -- to support instant runoff voting, proportional voting, full public financing, and fair ballot access laws. When electoral margins are slim, our collective voice can have an IMPACT. Please join our movement today!
